An article by Thomas Mambrini entitled: “Rome: new regulation for commercial activities” was published in the June issue of Retail & Food
In his article Thomas comments on the regulation recently approved by the Assemblea Capitolina of Rome no. 47/2018, aimed at limiting retail activities in the historic centre of Rome for the purpose of protecting its artistic and cultural value.
The aforementioned regulation mainly places restrictions regarding banned activities, expansions of existing retail stores and new openings; it also divides the city into areas, dictates milder provisions for the most external ones, and more and more strict constraints for the central ones.
This new regulation ultimately introduces stringent and precise constraints that could be in contrast with the liberalization of commercial and service activities, and with the EU principles on the free movement of services.
